Thousands of Venezuelans face starvation due to the falling economy and oil prices but humans aren't the only species facing this crisis. Animals such as dogs, cats, pigeons and even horses are being hunted for their meat or are dying of starvation themselves. Reports from Venezuela claim that horses are being slaughtered to feed big cats. In May, three animals died at a zoo in the Paraguaná Peninsula, in northwestern Venezuela. As of this writing, no international animal rights organizations have committed to relocating the remaining zoo animals. All animals in the country, bipedal or not, are suffering. Unfortunately, the country can not import or produce food. ..“The situation hasn’t improved and won’t improve in coming months because the government refuses to change its policies,” says Alejandro Gutiérrez, an expert in agriculture and food economics. “It will get worse.” We're all human and we all deserve to be heard.
